Broken Glass

I was told this dramatic story by friend about his relative. I've changed some details for the purpose:

As usual, Michael went to work early morning. Once he turns on his computer, he checked his emails. Among the received ones, he noticed one from his ex-girlfriend Yelena. He decided to check it first. He didn’t know that after this his life would turn into a nightmare. 

Michael is a tall black-eyed guy with short black hair. He has a smiling face and has the knack of spreading joy around him. His good-looking and kindness gave him a good reputation in the multinational company where he works as an engineer. One of his goals is to succeed in his job, maybe one day he could be a head of a big multinational institution. He also wants to start a happy family. He has just been engaged with a beautiful girl and they are preparing for the wedding planed three months ahead. Michael likes traveling very much and has visited many countries. Two years ago, he met during his travel that beautiful Irish girl, named Yelena and spent a delightful memorable holiday. They spent a very sensual month together. 

            Yelena has a lovely face, with wide blue eyes and magnificent wavy light brown hair. She is a slender girl and got a very attractive figure. Her main dream is to get a first degree in her economics studies, find a job and live in France.   

This morning he found Yelena’s email. It was short. She wrote: 

“Hi Michael,  

How are you doing? I’ve got an important question for you. Have you recently done the AIDS Test? I think I’m HIV seropositive. I'm absolutely terrified!!! Please, Mike, reply to me soon. It’s urgent...  

Yelena”

For the first time, he felt really frightened. He felt as if all his dreams fall down. Maybe she is infected, maybe he is too. He thought: “AIDS… The Acquired immune deficiency syndrome. This fatal disease that has destroyed life of million of people in the world.”.   All the time he knows about the main transmission routes of HIV. Even though, he has never used any mean of prevention against this horrible illness. It was not a lack of knowledge but a terrible lack of awareness. And maybe it is time to pay the price… Irresponsible gestures could break one's life like a glass...
